This left us to wonder what at all of the Microsoft-owned game development companies, who sit under a corporate umbrella called Xbox Game Studios, are working on right now.

- New Xbox Games Studios?
After the latest Xbox Games Showcase, we finally received updates on what many of the Xbox Game Studios are working one. Here's a breakdown of everything we know.
343 Industries is working on Halo Infinite
This is an easy one! We already knew prior to the Showcase that 343 was working on Halo Infinite, which was scheduled launch on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X - making the most of Microsoft's Smart Delivery service - towards the end of this year.
However, 343 announced on Twitter that their Halo game has been delayed until 2021, citing the Covid-19 pandemic as disrupting development.
Halo Infinite marks a shift away from a linear Halo campaign, opting instead for a more open-world feel.
The recent Xbox Games Showcase gave us a first-look at the campaign, both through cinematic and gameplay footage. You can watch the footage below:
What is Compulsion Games' next game?
The makers of Contrast and We Happy Few must be working on something, but the project has not been publicly announced just yet. Watch this space!
Double Fine is working on Psychonauts 2
Double Fine is still working on Psychonauts 2, which features music from Jack Black! The game has previously been pegged for a 2020 release, but we're still waiting for extra info around the release date
Having been announced in 2015, we'd expect this to be a launch title for the console!
inXile Entertainment is developing Wasteland 3
Another easy one! We already know that the Microsoft-owned inXile Entertainment is beavering away on Wasteland 3, which is planned to launch this April on current-gen consoles and PC. We wouldn't be surprised for an Xbox Series X launch to follow.
Mojang is still working on Minecraft Dungeons
We already know that Mojang is hard at work on Minecraft Dungeons, which is launching in May for current-gen consoles. Once that's done, perhaps they'll work on enhancing both Minecraft Dungeons and the base Minecraft for next-gen.
Ninja Theory is working on Hellblade 2
Ninja Theory actually has two games in the works: Senua's Saga: Hellblade II and the mysterious Project: Mara.
Aside from the announcement that Hellblade 2 is set in Iceland, we saw very little about the sequel and its place on the Xbox Series X in the Xbox Games Showcase. Hopefully we'll see more of Hellblade, which is being developed in UE5, in the next Inside Xbox event.
Obsidian Entertainment is working on Grounded, Outer Worlds DLC and Avowed
We know that Obsidian is working on Grounded, a multiplayer game that involves being shrunk down to a tiny size and playing with your friends. There will be a beta test on current-gen platforms in July.
Aside from this, Obsidian is releasing the first of two The Outer Worlds DLC in September entitled 'Peril on Gorgon' and a new, expansive fantasy RPG called Avowed.
Playground Games is working on a new Fable
The worst kept secret in gaming is finally out, Playground Games are working on a new Fable game! We only saw a teaser for the fantasy classic, but this is sure to get old-school Xbox fans excited!
Rare is working on two games!
Rare is known to be working on the beat-em-up Battletoads and an adventure game called Everwild, both of which we'd expect to see on Xbox Series X at some point! Everwild was shown off at the Xbox Games Studio event.
We wouldn't say no to a next-gen Rare Replay collection either, to be honest... but that hasn't been announced.
The Coalition is working on Gears 5 Enhanced
The Coalition will serve up Gears 5 Enhanced for Xbox Series X, which will be an early display of what being 'Optimized for Xbox Series X' actually looks like. We wouldn't bet against Gears 6 being on the cards, too, but it could be a long way off.
Turn 10 Studios is working on a Forza Motorsport game
Phil Spencer confirmed during the Xbox Games Showcase that Turn 10 Studios are working on a Forza Motorsport title that will run in 60 FPS. No release date was given, and interestingly, it was not called Forza Motorsport 8...
The Initiative is working on... something big
Red Dead Redemption alum Christian Cantamessa is working on a mysterious game for a relatively new studio called The Initiative. We've no idea what this game is, but we're hoping for a huge AAA title that will really show that the Xbox Series X can do. Here's a picture of Xbox boss Phil Spencer playing the game...
World's Edge is working on Age Of Empires 4
World's Edge is a bit of an outlier among the Xbox Game Studios roster. That because the main franchise they handle, Age Of Empires, is more of a PC thing than an Xbox thing. Nonetheless, they're beavering away on the next instalment in the franchise as we speak, as far as we know!
Undead Labs' is working on State of Decay 3
The company that previously brought us State Of Decay and State Of Decay 2 is now working on State of Decay 3 for the Xbox Series X.
Very little was shown off for the game aside from a cinematic trailer of a gruesome-looking deer, but hopefully we'll see more soon.
New Xbox Games Studios?
It's a long shot, but rumours placed Xbox in the race to acquire AT&T's Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment division. This deal, which would cost over $4bn, would see Xbox take ownership of studios including Netherrealm, Rocksteady, Avalanche, TT Games, and Monolith Productions.
These studios have previously worked on the likes of Mortal Kombat, the Batman: Arkham series, Shadow of Mordor, the alleged upcoming Harry Potter RPG, and the LEGO games.
It would certainly give Xbox a huge boost going into the next-gen of consoles, but given they are facing competition from EA, Activision and 2K, it may never come to fruition.
