The brand new Vivo X80 series of phones looks to be launching pretty soon, and as such, we'd love to know a release date.

Vivo looks to be releasing some amazing products in 2022 with the likes of the Vivo X Note, the Vivo Pad and Vivo X Fold all seeing the light of day with plenty of leaks in recent weeks.

Now though, Android phone fans have every reason to be excited for the new Vivo X80 series, as if leaks are to be believed, these should be a great set of phones themselves.

Here's everything you need to know, and why you should be excited about a brand new set of Android phones.

Vivo X80 Release Date Rumours

We haven't heard anything official from Vivo regarding the X80 series, unlike the X Fold and X Note, which are slated for an announcement on April 11th.

However, a leak from MySmartPrice suggests that the devices could launch as early as the end of April in India, so we may not have too long to wait, which would line up with the global release patterns of previous generations.

In looking at those previous patterns for the Vivo X-series of phones, they do appear to launch at shorter intervals than the competition,. For instance, the X70 series only launched back in September 2021, and before then, the X60 launched globally in March 2021, so the MySmartPrice leak, if true, would line up with previous years.

As for where the phone will be released, it is likely to see an Asian release in the likes of India and China, and we may well get it in Europe (as occurred with the X60), although an American release is unlikely.

Vivo X80 Specs

Before jumping into the leaked specs of the respective smartphones, it's worth just breaking down what we expect the X80 range of phones from Vivo to look like.

We're expecting there to be three phones within the X80 line, namely a base model, an X80 Pro and an X80 Pro+, which would line up with the previous year's range. This contrasts the likes of the iPhone 14, which, if leaks are to be believed, is swapping out the Mini variant for a bigger screen Max offering.

Vivo X80 Specs

As for specs, the standard X80 has seen some notable leaks from Digital Chat Station on Weibo. They suggest the phone will feature a 6.78inch FHD+ OLED curved screen. As for battery, the leaker has also stated it'll feature a 4500mAh battery with 80W fast charging.

Digital Chat Station, in a follow-up report, noted the standard X80 is expected to feature a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset, the same that powers the Oppo Find X5 Pro as well as stating the display could feature a 120Hz refresh rate.

Vivo X80 Pro Specs

Moving up the ladder comes the X80 Pro which appears to be the phone we know the most about, according to leakers. The likes of Shadow_Leak have published alleged spec sheets for the X80 Pro, and an early base X80 specs leak by GizChina actually looks to line up with more recent X80 Pro leaks.

It's expected to feature the same MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset as the standard X80, alongside either 6GB or 8GB of speedy LPDDR5 RAM, as well as a choice of either 128GB or 256GB of storage.

Intriguingly though, back in February, a high performing phone expected to be the X80 Pro posted some high-ranking benchmark scores on the likes of Geekbench (via GSM Arena) which notes 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, so it may be possible we get the X80 Pro in three separate configurations.

As for its display, the X80 Pro is tipped to feature a 6.78 inch QHD+ panel, noting an upgrade in resolution from the standard X80 with a 120Hz refresh rate for super smooth input. Its battery will be slightly bigger with a 4700mAh cell, complete with 80W fast charging and 50W wireless charging..

There is also some corroboration from leakers when it comes to camera specs for the X80 Pro. Both GizChina and Shadow_Leak have noted the phone will feature a 50MP main sensor, with an f/1.4 aperture, as well as a 12MP ultrawide, a 12MP portrait lens with 2x zoom and a 12MP periscope lens with 10x hybrid zoom, or 5x optical. This would provide users with quite the mean quad camera setup.

Vivo X80 Pro+ Specs

The X80 Pro+ is tipped to be the top of the X80 line and feature some notable upgrades, especially in the camera department.

Whilst it looks set to retain the same quad camera offering as the X80 Pro, a couple of the sensors are getting some major boosts on the Pro+.. For reference, the main camera will retain a 50MP resolution but offer a wider f/1.3 aperture, whilst the ultrawide jumps to 48MP and the selfie camera gets upgraded to 44MP.

Inside, as per some recently spotted Geekbench benchmark listings (via GSMArena), the X80 Pro+ looks set to utilise a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, which is going to be powerful a multitude of flagship Android phones in 2022. This is set to come alongside upwards of 12GB of RAM and 512GB storage.

The display on the X80 Pro+ looks to be the same as the Pro, as does its suspected 4700mAh battery, complete with 80W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

Vivo X80 Price

On the front of pricing, Vivo hasn't revealed anything officially, but there are a couple of leaks that could give us an idea of retail pricing for at least one of the phones.

According to Shadow_Leak, the Vivo X80 Pro is likely to start at ¥5499 which, as per current exchange rates, is equivalent to £661/$864.

For the top of the line X80 Pro+, Shadow_Leak has started its starting price will be ¥6499, which is equivalent to £781/$1021.

For a flagship phone, this makes the X80 Pro+ a much lower cost option compared to the likes of the iPhone 13 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra which both clock in at nearly double the price.

We don't unfortunately have any pricing for the base model X80, but as and when we get more info, we'll be sure to let you know.
