The iPhone 14 should be heading our way, and if the latest leaks and rumours are anything to go on, there's a lot to be excited about.
The iPhone 14 is rumoured to be more than a subtle upgrade, and the same goes for the iPhone 15 too, but what changes should we expect to see, and will Apple stick their usual release date schedule too?
Let’s take a look at what we know so far, and why you should start getting excited.
iPhone 14 Release Date
If we're basing things off of previous years, the iPhone 14 should launch in September 2022.
Last year's iPhone 13 was announced on the 14th September 2021, and it seems Apple has a knack for announcing its flagship smartphone on the first or second Tuesday of September, so keep your eyes peeled for then.
It doesn't look as though the development has hit any snags, according to analyst Jeff Pu (via 9To5Mac), as the phone has entered the engineering validation stage. Trial production had begun on schedule last month, too, si ot looks to be full steam ahead.
iPhone 14 Specs & Features
The rumour mill has also been turning with the iPhone 14's specs, which look to be rather good indeed.
First things first, the product lineup for the iPhone 14 is set to change somewhat. According to reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple has ditched the Mini and opted for a larger screen iPhone Max, to offer the benefits of a larger screen without the burden of going for the most expensive model.
The standard iPhone 14, according to Ross Young, will have a 6.1 inch OLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate, whilst the Pro should utilise the same sized screen with a 120Hz variable refresh rate (likely with Apple's ProMotion tech). As for the Max and Pro Max, their screen should b 6.7 inches in size with 60 and 120Hz refresh rates, respectively.
With regards to chipset, there's expected to be a split between the standard iPhone 14 and the higher-end iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models. The standard iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max are, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, likely to stick with last year's A15 Bionic, whilst the higher end models opt for Apple's new A16 Bionic chip.

As for RAM, the higher end iPhone models are expected to come with 8GB of RAM, which would be the highest we've seen on an iPhone, according to analyst Jeff Pu (via MacRumors) However, this sits at odds with another leak that suggests all four models will have 6GB. We'll have to wait and see.
On the front of storage, the Pro models might double the max capacity again to upwards of 2TB, according to MyDrivers, who does have a bit of a hit and miss track record when it comes to previous leaks, so we can't be sure if this will or will not happen.

It's worth noting though that last year's iPhones were able to be configured with up to 1TB of storage, which was in itself a doubling of the previously available 512GB option.
Regarding the camera, Ming-Chi Kuo (via MacRumors) has claimed that the top-spec iPhones will have a 48MP main snapper, which would be quadruple last year's phones' 12MP main sensors. This would also be capable of recording 8K video, which, alongside the Cinematic Mode feature introduced last year, could make the new iPhones quite the filmmaking powerhouse.
iPhone 14 Charger
According to a recent leak spotted by 9to5mac, the iPhone 14 could get a dual USB-C charger this time around. That means that you could be able to charge your phone and another additional device at the same time.
This charger will apparently be 35W, which may not tip the scales as much as some of the other brands on the market, but is certainly impressive nonetheless.
According to the article, it's not clear yet as to if this will actually release though.

iPhone 14 Design
As well as getting plenty of juicy information when it comes to the potential specs of the upcoming iPhone 14 lineup, we've also had some interesting information pertaining to its design.
We've had some unofficial renders of particularly the iPhone 14 Pro models courtesy of Jon Prosser who, whilst he has a mixed track record, has corroborated prior leaks into one package. You can take a look for yourself below:
According to Prosser's image, the iPhone 14 Pro Max looks to feature a notch-less display with a hole-punch camera. This removal of the notch is a point of contention amongst leakers as while both Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg's Mark Gurman have stated September 2022 could be the end of the notch, Ross Young has noted that Apple could introduce a 'hole and pill' design for the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max also looks to be a thicker phone than previous iPhones which is largely seen as a result of a potentially larger battery and the protruding camera bump to house the more powerful 48MP sensor leakers have suggested that the device could ship with.
iPhone 14 Price
Regarding pricing, there's one iPhone 14 price leak that offers some insight into what the device may end up costing.
According to LeaksApplePro, the base model will supposedly start at $799, which suggests no price rises whilst the new, bigger screen iPhone 14 Max will retail for $899.
For the higher end models, the iPhone 14 Pro is said to retail for $1099 with the Pro Max sitting at $1199. This would make up a $100 price increase over last year's phones.
As and when we hear more about the device, we'll be sure to keep you updated.
