Harrison Ford will play Marvel’s Thunderbolt Ross after William Hurt‘s passing

Fans everywhere were saddened about the death of Thunderbolt Ross actor William Hurt, whose career spans decades of great performances. Despite Hurt’s death, Marvel has plans for the character in the upcoming Thunderbolts film, with Harrison Ford reportedly replacing Hurt.

If the rumors are true, Ford won’t just be playing Ross in the film; he will also be Red Hulk. MCU fans everywhere have been waiting to see Ross’s Red Hulk form debut and Thunderbolts would be the perfect vehicle.

Harrison Ford making his MCU debut in Thunderbolts?

According to insider Jeff Sneider, Harrison Ford will be playing Thunderbolt Ross in the upcoming Thunderbolts film after Hurt’s passing. Slash Film has also corroborated Sneider’s news, supposedly confirming that Ford will be making his MCU debut in the movie.

Marvel Studios and Disney have yet to comment on the news, though we assume that an announcement will be made. We assumed Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ character, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, would lead the team but she’ll likely play a major role.

Only time will tell if Ford does play the character since the actor always seems to be on the verge of retiring. Hopefully, this ends up being a role that Ford enjoys and stays on for a bit, though we’re sure good money wouldn’t hurt either.

Red Hulk incoming?

If Harrison Ford making his MCU debut in the Thunderbolts wasn’t exciting enough, rumors are also claiming he will turn to Red Hulk. Comic fans have been waiting to see this monstrous iteration of Hulk on the big screen for a long time.

Naturally, fans should take this news with a grain of salt since insiders can be pretty hit or miss. Still, Ross has been around for a long time now and it would be awesome to see the Thunderbolts try and fight him.

As of this writing, Marvel’s Thunderbolts is expected to hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
