We don’t know yet if Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be better than its predecessor but it sure is bigger. In addition to more villains and travel options, the PS5 exclusive will also weigh in at a hefty 98 GB.

The sequel’s storage space was confirmed by the Spider-Man 2 countdown Twitter account after managing to obtain a rare Spider-Man 2 PS5. A peak at the PS5 box confirms that this is another huge open-world game that will take up most of your console space.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and its expansion Miles Morales weigh in at 75 GB and 50 GB on PS5 respectively. Since the sequel was always going to be bigger than both games, the massive amount of space it takes makes sense.

Based on what’s been promised thus far, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is expected to have a bigger open-world to explore. Add all the villains that Peter and Miles can face, not to mention some new travel options, and it’s easy to see why players will need to erase other games.

Unfortunately, the news isn’t too surprising since most AAA games are starting to embrace their heft. Everything from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to Hogwarts Legacy weighs in at around 150 or so. Square Enix might trump them all as Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth will come in at two discs, making fans wonder if it will be a 200 GB RPG.

At this point, most first-gen system owners are used to this and will hopefully upgrade their SSD or make space. If there’s any positive that can come from this, it’s that players are actually encouraged to finish their games so they can make space on their consoles.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming to the PlayStation 5 as an exclusive on October 20. A PC port seems likely since Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales got them.
