Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are finally bringing back all of the starters from previous generations. Fans will be able to get their hands on these critters in the games’ second DLC pack, and they won’t just be instant gifts.

News on the DLC was revealed as part of the 2023 Pokémon World Championships. During the closing ceremony of the event, we got to see the trailer that showed off our favorite starters roaming the world of Paldea.

Before the announcement, only a couple of these starters were available as part of Raid battles, though players had to fight their final forms. Anyone that wanted their first form had to breed their Raid Battle reward with Ditto so it’s good to see the DLC make things easier.

The return of these starters definitely makes the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC more interesting. We now see why The Pokémon Company was hyping up DLC 2 when the first part hasn’t even come out yet.

All joking aside, there’s a lot of excitement surrounding the DLC expansion coming to these RPGs. Prior to the starters getting announced, we did see some fan-favorite Pokémon announced for the first part. Both DLC packs also have new Paradox Pokémon to catch, including Raging Bolt, a hilarious monster based on Raikou.

It’s not just starters coming to the DLC, as one of the images from the trailer also reveals Shaymin. While the trailer didn’t focus on this legendary, expect news on how to get this Pokémon in the near future. Shaymin was last made available in a limited-time event for Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Both DLC parts also have some interesting story elements coming to these RPGs. It looks like the new character Perrin has a major connection to Adaman from Pokémon Legends: Arceus. We’re also getting a new Elite Four to take on in the second part of the DLC.
