Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has more Paradox Pokémon on the way in its upcoming DLC, with Raikou’s Raging Bolt getting plenty of attention. Interestingly, an artist and fan predicted the iconic monster’s new form, and their mockup almost looks identical to the final beast.
An Instagram artist going by bulbbyboi theorized that the Paradox form of Raikou would be called Rumbling Ray. While the final name is different, it seems that the artist was close to predicting how this version of the Pokémon would look.
Obviously, there are a couple of major differences to the official Raging Bolt reveal. The artist didn’t predict Raging Bolt having a cloud-like beard, for one thing. However, both forms have long necks, a huge coincidence on Game Freak’s end.
Fans were expecting Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to reveal a Paradox form of Raikou after they revealed Walking Wake, a Paradox version of Suicune. This version was radically different from the original and that got fans thinking about the other legendary dogs. Now that we’ve seen Suicune and Raikou get their Paradox forms, Entei is next.
Suicune, Raikou, and Entei have always been connected to each other since they first appeared in Pokémon Crystal. These roaming legendaries are connected through their backstory where Ho-Oh brought them back to life after originally dying in the Burned Tower. Naturally, when one of them appears in a game, fans expect all of them to be there.
Raging Bolt isn’t the only exciting announcement from the DLC, as The Teal Mask expansion has promising story elements. A new character named Perrin seems to have a connection to Pokémon Legends: Arceus based on her appearance alone. There will also be a good number of returning Pokémon, which is always worth celebrating.
Fans are also hoping that some of the teases seen in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC trailer hint at Unova remakes. While Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl could have been better, there’s hope more care will be put into remakes of Black and White.
