Baldur’s Gate 3 is still one of this year’s most played titles, with even Steam Deck users putting enjoying the CRPG, despite some big drawbacks. Considering how easy it is to bring this giant handheld around, we don’t blame players for putting up with the flaws, when the strengths are much bigger.

The official Steam Deck Twitter account revealed its top 20 most-played games of October, where Larian’s CRPG sits on top. Most would agree that this is a somewhat surprising no. 1 since the Steam Deck isn’t the most optimal way to play this grand adventure.

Despite being verified, the Steam Deck version of this acclaimed RPG chugs quite a bit. For the most part, it's a solid 30fps, but Act 3 is filled with frame drops, though that's a constant in other versions as well.

Still, considering how easy it is to pack the handheld and Baldur’s Gate 3 has offline play, we can see why it became no. 1. It’s also worth pointing out that every version of this game is pretty flawed, with the PS5 version also suffering some hiccups, so fans will experience some issues no matter what.

Looking at the other games that made it on this month’s list, Steam Deck's favorite Vampire Hunters is still here at a strong no. 6, after being no. 1 plenty of times. The Cyberpunk 2077 renaissance is also in full effect, as CD Projekt Red’s much improved open-world game is now at no. 2 since it runs really well on the handheld.

Diablo 4 appearing on the list also makes a lot of sense, though it didn’t even crack the top 10. Granted, that’s still a lot of people playing the hack-n-slash RPG but it probably would have been higher if it had offline play and better seasons.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a surefire Game of the Year contender and we wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up winning that award from various publications. Since we’re a month away from The Game Awards, it wouldn’t surprise us if Larian ended up revealing the Xbox Series version then and there. It’s been a long time coming for Xbox fans.
