Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 and its Phantom Liberty expansion might be incredibly intensive but the revised game seems to run great on Valve’s Steam Deck. While fans will have to adjust settings to make the RPG run well, the results make this title finally earn its ‘verifed’ status.

Tom’s Hardware claims that the default layout on Steam Deck is enough to run the 2.0 update, though higher settings are a no-go. For the most part, this first-person RPG runs at a steady 30 FPS, with only a couple of dips in the 20 range.

Players on Reddit have also revealed that the Phantom Liberty expansion runs well on Valve’s handheld, which is always good news. Once again, settings did have to be adjusted so that the RPG would run properly but 30 FPS isn’t too bad for the handheld.

While most would think Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 running on Steam Deck would be a no-brainer, some decisions from CD Projekt Red had fans doubting it. Recently, CD Projekt Red told PC fans that they would need an SSD to run the game, which was disappointing for HDD fans. The 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty are also current-gen only, so PS4 and Xbox One owners will be missing out.

Other PC titles have also struggled to run on Valve’s handheld system, even though some of them were ‘verified.’ Baldur’s Gate 3 is the biggest outlier here, as the third act is very demanding graphically and struggles on all systems, especially on Steam Deck. Fans have also had issues getting Starfield to run properly on the Deck, as it has led to a number of bugs.

Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 is introducing a ton of changes to the base game, revamping the skill tree, introducing car combat, and having improved AI. Phantom Liberty adds even more to the game, including a whole new area and a brand-new story with Idris Elba.
