Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a monumental success all around and fans want more of the RPG, even if they haven’t finished it yet. While Larian Studios initially dismissed the idea of DLC, it seems the company may have changed its mind in regard to additional content.

Tom Butler, the studio’s senior project manager, recently spoke with IGN and was asked about new content. Butler said that they’re considering the idea but that will come after numerous patches and a well-deserved vacation for the devs.

“We’ll carry on patching for a while and then we’re all going to take a holiday and then we’ll figure out what we do next,” Butler said. "But at the moment, we genuinely have discussions. We want to do more. We don't know what yet."

Considering the initial dismissal of potential Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC, this is a huge improvement. DLC was initially dismissed because the base game ends at Level 12 and levels beyond that change things drastically. Players that go beyond Level 12 in D&D can get god-like spells but will also have to fight god-tier enemies.

Now that there’s interest in bringing DLC to the game, it will be interesting to see what threats players can face. Reaching high levels in D&D is where most dungeon masters have to get creative, so Larian has their work cut out for themselves.

Obviously, no promises were made and we might not get an expansion or any DLC at all. This wouldn’t be the worst since the base game is long enough, with numerous cutscenes to witness and thousands of endings to get. As we said earlier, we doubt most gamers are even done with the RPG yet.

Butler also mentioned the need for patching up Baldur’s Gate 3, which makes sense. Although not a buggy mess, the RPG does struggle in some areas. Act 3 is infamous for being hard on the CPU, to the point that this part is unplayable on Steam Deck.
