Baldur’s Gate 3 has put Larian Studios on the map for many, so fans can’t wait to see what the company will do next. While it’s not yet known what their next game will be like, the company is hoping to “push many boundaries” like they did with BG3.
Swen Vincke, the CEO of Larian Studios, tweeted his thanks to the fans for making Baldur’s Gate 3 a Game of the Year candidate. After thanking fans on Twitter, Vincke then gave a slight tease for Larian’s next game, ensuring fans that boundaries will be pushed with their next entry.
“I wish I could tell you about our next big game but this is really encouraging us to ensure it pushes many boundaries, Vincke said. “I’m very excited about it.”
Most fans are expecting Baldur’s Gate 3 to win Game of the Year, since it made a niche genre interesting again, while also having great writing to boot. To say Larian Studios went above and beyond with this CRPG is an understatement, given the number of endings fans can experience.
Due to all of the love this third entry has been getting, many fans have been begging Larian for DLC, even if they haven’t beaten the game yet. While the company was initially hesitant about the move, they’ve seemingly been more open to it, though nothing concrete has been said.
Larian Studios still has a couple of tricks up their sleeves, with the Xbox release of Baldur’s Gate 3 seemingly coming soon. A December release has been hinted at recently, with many fans assuming that it will be revealed during The Game Awards. There’s no better way to ensure Xbox fans buying the game then by announcing it during a highly-anticipated show.
Fans of the company know that Larian specializes in the CRPG genre, working on the acclaimed Divinity series before Baldur’s Gate 3. While it would be easy to assume that they could work on this genre again, they could surprise fans with something completely different.
Currently, Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on PS5 and PC, with an Xbox Series release coming soon.
