Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to PlayStation 5 next week but everyone’s wondering when it will be coming to Xbox Series systems. After promising fans a 2023 release, Larian Studios has now given a possible release window for the Xbox Series port.
Director Swen Vincke spoke with IGN about the port’s release and said they’re trying to release it “as fast as they can.” Vincke then said that he hopes Larian will be able to release the game between September and November.
"It's 2023. And 2023 is narrowing, so it's already pretty precise in my book. Between September and November... So, as fast as we can honestly," Vincke said.
Unsurprisingly, the PS5 version of Baldur’s Gate 3 is the main focus of Larian Studios right now. With the release coming out next week, the devs are probably attempting to eliminate any major bugs that might hinder the port.
Luckily, Vincke has assured fans that the Xbox Series version seems to be in good shape. While the Series S version won’t have split-screen co-op, cloud saves should make that sting a bit less.
"So the Xbox Series X version was already in good shape last time I looked at it. So we're just going to go through the motions, 'Okay, what do we still need to do?' Vincke says. "There's a bunch of stuff that needs to happen to finalize it. But I think from a content point of view and from a technical point of view, we're actually very close."
The Xbox Series port of Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a point of contention for many fans, as the delay was so it would run well on Series S. Due to the Series S being less powerful than the Series X, many fans wanted Microsoft to drop Series S support altogether. Now that the Series S version is coming, there’s a good chance it will do better than the Steam Deck version.
