Starfield is coming out fairly soon and fans are curious about how much freedom they have in the sci-fi RPG. It turns out there’s a lot to do, as Bethesda’s Pete Hines has confirmed that the planets are fully explorable.

Hines responded to a fan on Twitter, who asked if they can explore the whole planet when they land there. The head of Bethesda’s publishing confirmed that players will be able to explore whole planets “if they want,” before jokingly calling the fan a brave explorer.

Exploring the galaxy and all of its planets is exactly what fans want from Starfield, so this confirmation is exciting. Granted, we’ll have to wait for the full game to come out before taking Hine’s word for it but hopes are high.

Promises like this might remind fans of No Man’s Sky, which promised a lot but failed to fulfill most of them at launch. While the space exploration sim was a disappointment at first, numerous patches have led to fans now loving the game.

It’s no surprise that Starfield is the most ambitious RPG from Bethesda thus far. Having fully explorable planets and customizable starships is a lot for this sci-fi RPG. Players can even conduct space business if they want to.

Beyond exploring planets and having businesses, players will also be able to commit crimes and partake in shootouts. Hilariously, the developers in Bethesda openly support players committing crimes as long as they don’t get caught.
