Ever since developers Creative Assembly announced in 2015 an intention to create a trilogy based on Warhammer, fans have been waiting to see what the conclusion would be, and when it would land.
We got our first confirmation in late 2020 via a teaser trailer that seemingly confirmed last entry to this Total War spin-off is deep in development. The previous two entries have been well-received, with DLC still in the works for the second Warhammer entry.
However, after months of waiting and speculation, SEGA has finally announced Total War: Warhammer III. Here's everything we know.
As you would expect from the final instalment of the Warhammer trilogy, Warhammer 3 will culminate in an enormous battle between the various races and powers within the world.
Creative Assembly is obviously keeping the overarching plot pretty hidden ahead of Warhammer 3's launch, but it said: "Embarking on a new grand campaign, you will be tasked with saving or exploiting the power of a dying god. Each race offers a unique journey through the nightmarish Chaos Realm, culminating in an endgame that will determine the fate of the world."
The announcement also said that players will battle with "the most diverse array of legendary heroes, gargantuan monsters, flying creatures and magical powers that the series has ever seen."
Warhammer 3 seems set to build on the mechanics of what made the first two games unique, but with a focus to lead different factions based on the Warhammer brand.
While the teaser trailer doesn’t hint at much, and the announcement trailer is a fully cinematic experience, it may suggest that new environments are coming.

Total War: Warhammer III will be available at launch on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store only.
The developers or publishers have yet to comment or suggest that Warhammer 3 could make its way onto consoles in the future. However, games such as Diablo II have proved that this genre can work on consoles, so it would be a welcome addition to see it arrive on the Xbox Series S/X and the PlayStation 5.

Warhammer 3 is set to launch sometime in 2021, with the announcement trailer concluding with the statement: "Coming 2021".
We do not yet know when specifically in 2021 we can expect Warhammer 3 to release, but as its predeccessor Total War: Warhammer 2 launched in September 2017, it could be set to release in September 2021.
