Mods can change little things, like the way the cheese looks in a game, to big things, like the entire game.
They're all very impressive either way, but sometimes a mod has a lasting appeal, and that's very much the case with Third Age - Total War.
It's a mod that's been around for a fairly long time, but it's still one of the best ones out there for fans of Total War and Lord of the Rings.
So, here's everything you need to know about it.
What is Third Age - Total War
Third Age - Total War is a mod for Medieval 2: Total War Kingdoms that turns the whole thing into a Lord of the Rings strategy game.
That means you can live out your favourite battles from the world of MIddle-Earth and see if you could do a better job of things than Gandolf or Sauron.
It contains fourteen factions from the series, a massive campaign to get through, loads of cool units, and over twenty-five locations from the world.
It's an astoundingly impressive mod, and assuming you already have the game, you'll probably want to know how you can start playing it.

How to get Third Age - Total War
As with all mods, the first thing you want to do is download. So, go over to moddb and download the TATW 3.2 patch. This is a standalone patch so you won't need anything else to go with it, other than the game. You'll need the Medieval 2 - Kingdoms Expansion too.
Once you've downloaded the mod you need to move it into your Medieval 2: Total War directory which is usually Programs/SEGA/Medieval 2: Total War.
Once this is done, you need to follow the rest of the instructions as listed on the mod's page and you'll be good to go.
