With constant hopes that the Nintendo Switch Pro / Super Switch will be coming soon with 4K graphics, some developers out there in the community have already been able to achieve this with an emulator on PC.
Emulators have long helped gamers upscale their favourite titles to a higher resolution. There’s even a community where textures have been able to be replaced or enhanced on games like Majora’s Mask and Resident Evil 3.
They’ve come in leaps and bounds since the N64 days of successfully emulating Mario 64in ‘UltraHLE’, and now there are many kinds of emulators; from arcade variants to SNES emulators that can enable native widescreen to the many games there.
But there is one emulator called ‘Yuzu’, a Switch emulator that has been in development for the last two years, and can now enable 4K graphics on games like Mario Odyssey and Breath Of The Wild.

What is Yuzu?
Yuzu is made by a team of developers who also made a 3DS emulator called Citra. It achieved playable states in games only a couple of months after its development was announced.
There are monthly updates that give significant improvements, such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimatebeing playable in 4K - that happened in March.
There’s even an opportunity to ‘mod’ certain games, like Splatoon and Mario Kart, to extend the games beyond what’s available in their official capacity.
There are so many machines out there now that could run the emulator at a decent speed. The GPD Win Max is a great example of this; it could be the ultimate method to play Switch games in a higher resolution, on the go.

How to run Nintendo Switch games in 4K on PC
You might be wondering, then, how do you run a Nintendo Switch game in a higher resolution using a PC?
Here are the minimum specifications for a PC to run Yuzu at a decent speed.
- CPU: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.2 GHz, AMD FX 8120 @ 3.9 GHz
- DDR Memory: 8 GB RAM
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 | AMD Radeon R9 Cards
First of all, make sure to download the emulator from the main site. Then, get your game file stored on your PC hard drive, and make sure that the emulator can find the game easily.
Go into the ‘Configuration’ settings, and look at ‘Internal Resolution’.
Here, you can see that it goes into ‘4x Native’, so if you want Onimusha at 7680x4320, it can be done!
