The sad news that The Last Of Us 2 has been indefinitely delayed has been a crushing blow to gamers, and is sparking speculation that other games and even consoles could be delayed next.
Nintendo has been struggling to keep up with the manufacturing of Nintendo Switch consoles and this has lead to many empty shelves in stores. Which begs the question, What effect will all this disruption have on the Nintendo Switch Pro?
Of course, the Nintendo Switch Pro is yet to be properly announced, but fans have been calling out for it for a while now, and speculation about its release date has been rife.
And now, with Coronavirus wreaking havoc on workplaces around the globe, it's only natural to wonder if the Switch Pro could be impacted by the COVID-19 lockdown. Here's what we know...
Nintendo Switch Pro: Reality or fiction?
One major stumbling block when considering if Coronavirus will have any effect on the Nintendo Switch Pro is whether or not the Nintendo Switch Pro is actually going to be a reality.
Nintendo is yet to confirm whether or not the Switch Pro will be coming at all, but they have said there will be no hardware updates to the current Switch console.
This does not mean that the Switch Pro won't be gracing our stores at some point. It could just mean at the moment Nintendo has other things on its plate currently, and the Nintendo Switch Pro is probably taking a backseat.

Is the Nintendo Switch Pro being pushed back?
Certainly, considering that Nintendo is rushing to produce more stock of the regular Switch console - which is hugely sought after right now - it's hard to imagine the Switch Pro being a priority at the moment.
This could well mean that, behind the scenes, Switch Pro plans have been delayed or put on hold while Nintendo focuses instead on getting more units made of its current products.
However, if this has happened, Nintendo has kept it quiet - there haven't been any announcements, positive or negative, about Nintendo's next console.

Potential release date for the Nintendo Switch Pro
Currently the release date for the Nintendo Switch Pro is completely unknown, there is no official release date and it seems like there won't be for some time.
It seems unlikely that we will see the Switch Pro in 2020, but it's still not out of the realms of possibility. Nintendo is notoriously secretive when it comes to their releases after all, so it could come sooner than we think.
We would be very surprised if a 2020 release happened, though, making 2021 seems like a more likely bet. We'll be sure to keep you posted if we hear anything.
