Rumour has it that Jason Momoa could be joining The Witcher universe on Netflix, with the Aquaman actor reportedly being considered for a role on the iconic streaming service.
However, if the rumours are true, you shouldn't expect to see Jason Momoa sharing scenes with Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia. That's because Momoa's alleged role would be in a prequel series called The Witcher: Blood Origin, which will be very separate from Geralt's adventures.

What is The Witcher: Blood Origin?
Set ages before the events of The Witcher series, Blood Origin is a prequel that would chart the journey of the very first Witcher in history.
Declan de Barra, a writer who worked on The Witcher Season 1, has been tapped as the showrunner for Blood Origin. And according to a leak from an online scoop-hunter called Daniel Richtman, Jason Momoa is among the actors being considered for a role in Blood Origin.
Momoa, of course, has worked with Henry Cavill before: Momoa's Aquaman and Cavill's Superman both appeared in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice and the Justice League movie. Perhaps Momoa will ask Cavill if it's worth joining the Witcher/Netflix universe!

Who would Jason Momoa play in The Witcher universe?
According to the aforementioned rumour/leak/scoop, Momoa could be signing up to play the very first Witcher in this far-flung prequel series. So if this turns out to be true, we could see Momoa's character discovering the sort of magical techniques that Geralt uses later (in the main series).
The Blood Origin prequel series is believed to be beginning with a short Season 1 consisting of six episodes, so this may not be too big of an undertaking for Momoa. That is to say, seeing as it won't eat up too much of his movie-making schedule, hopefully this role would be tempting to Momoa!
The Witcher: Blood Origin trailer and release date - when will we get them?
There's no trailer or release date for The Witcher: Blood Origin just yet, because the show is still in very early stages of pre-production.
We'd expect to see a cast announcement soon-ish, and then a rough timeline for the show's production would follow after that.
If this Jason Momoa casting news turns out to be true, we'll be sure to let you know! Keep it Stealth Optional for all the latest news...
