If you're considering getting a new smartwatch, you might be wondering whether you should wait for the Realme Watch 3 Pro. While there are a lot of cheap smartwatches to choose from, it may just be worth holding fire for a bit longer.
We've sifted through the rubbish dump of rumours, half-truths and misinformation, to bring you the gold nuggets of truth in terms of what we know about the Realme Watch 3 Pro. And you'll be able to decide for yourself whether it's worth waiting for.
Realme Watch 3 Pro: Release Date Speculation
Realme has already teased the release of the Watch 3 Pro on its website, so we know that it is definitely on the way. There was a lot of speculation to say that the watch was going to be released on August 18, but that date has come and gone, and the website still just says "coming soon".
The Realme Watch 3 was released at the beginning of August, while the Watch 2 Pro came out in May 2021. Which doesn't necessarily give us much of a steer in terms of a release date. But it doesn't seem likely that "coming soon" would mean May next year. That doesn't feel very soon.
Perhaps the biggest clue we have comes courtesy of Twitter, where fans have contacted Realme to ask about the release date. And the response from the Indian support team is interesting:
Stating that "we won't make you wait much" indicates that a release date is imminent. And while we can't pin down a definitive date, or even use the release history to give us a clue, this Twitter exchange does suggest that the Watch 3 Pro isn't far away.
Realme Watch 3 Pro Price
Once again, Realme hasn't given us any indication on price. But this time, we can use history as an indicator of what we might expect.
The Watch 3 released at the beginning of August, and was priced somewhere in the region of $44/£40. Compare this with the Watch 2, which cost a very similar amount, launching at around the $45/£49.99 mark.
The Watch 2 Pro meanwhile, is available for around the $75/£60 mark. And if we use the difference between the Watch 2 and Watch 3 as a marker, then we could expect the Watch 3 Pro to be priced in the same ballpark as the Watch 2 Pro.
A listing on an Indian website lists the watch at 4999 Rupees, which would convert roughly to $63/£53. This may be a placeholder though, so take it with a pinch of salt.
There may be a slight price rise because of the additional features we're expecting it to have. Speaking of which...
Realme Watch 3 Pro Potential Specs
There is one feature we are absolutely certain of, and that's the large AMOLED display that Realme has already confirmed will be present on the Watch 3 Pro. We don't yet know exactly how large it will be. The Watch 3 has a 1.8 inch screen, so we'd expect it to be at least as big as that.
Their Watch 3 Pro teaser page also suggests that it will come with GPS, and a built-in speaker, to allow you to make and receive calls directly from the watch.
In terms of other features, we certainly wouldn't expect it to offer anything less than its predecessors. So expect it to have the usual plethora of fitness features. The listing we mentioned earlier suggests the Watch 3 Pro will have the following features:
- Bluetooth 5.3
- 1.75 in Touch Display
- Water Resistant, 50 m, IP68
- Heart Rate Monitor
- SpO2 (Blood Oxygen) Monitor, Blood Pressure Monitor
- Pedometer, Sleep Monitor, Calorie Count, Step Count
- 15 days Battery
- Alarm Clock, Stopwatch, Reminder, Timer
Once again, we don't know whether these are confirmed, or simply a placeholder by the retailer. They may have been copied from the Watch 2 Pro spec sheet. These would probably be the bare minimum we'd expect to see on the new watch.
Hopefully, it won't be too long before the Watch 3 Pro finally gets formally released. And we'll be able to tell you definitively, what it has to offer.
