Star Wars’ Dave Filoni calls Ahsoka series a “Religious Experience”

Star Wars fans are more than ready for the Ahsoka series to come to Disney+. However, it seems that Dave Filoni is more ready than they are, calling the show a “religious experience.”

Ahsoka’s creator and the figurehead of the Star Wars franchise, Filoni’s statement should get fans of the franchise very excited.

Is Ahsoka a God-tier Star Wars show?

During an appearance at C2E2 (via Laughing Place), Ahsoka star Rosario Dawson reveals that an episode of the show was “already edited together.” Apparently, it was this episode that ended up making Dave Filoni feel emotional, as the episode of this Star Wars spin-off led to him saying it was a “religious experience,” at least according to Dawson.

Rosario Dawson said: "So, I will say this. I will probably get in trouble for saying this, but Dave [Filoni] saw one of the episodes already edited together, and he walked up, him and Carrie Beck, both, like, glossy-eyed, and he said to me that it was 'a religious experience.'"

Considering how involved Filoni is with Star Wars in general, the “religious experience” comment for Ahsoka is interesting, albeit somewhat self-centered and biased. As mentioned earlier, Filoni was responsible for Ahsoka and making Star Wars: The Clone Wars a success but the comment does feel like a self-high five.

Ahsoka’s Star Wars future

While Dave Filoni’s comments are a bit much, we would be lying if we said that the Star Wars future of Ahsoka isn’t exciting. Ahsoka’s appearance in The Mandalorian made a lot of fans happy and there’s no denying that the character’s history in Clone Wars and Rebels warrants a spin-off series.

Grander plans for the Star Wars Disney+ shows have also been teased, with The Mandalorian Season 3 supposedly paving the way for Ahsoka. More Star Wars tie-ins are expected as well, which could mean that we’re getting some kind of mini-event if things keep going this way. It will be interesting to see how that pans out, assuming that happens.

No release date for Ahsoka has been released, though it seems likely that the show will come out in 2023. Meanwhile, The Mandalorian Season 3 is expected to premiere on October 2023.
