Debuting in season two of The Mandalorian, the live-action version of Ahsoka Tano has been a tad controversial. Played by Rosario Dawson, many were excited to see Anakin Skywalker’s padawan make the jump the live-action. However, others were upset that the Dawson-played version didn’t feel like the same character as that of the animated shows.
Nevertheless, live-action Ahsoka is not only here to stay, but will be for a while. With the character returning for future Mandalorian series as well as her own show — titled Ahsoka — the character will be everywhere.
Rosario Dawson wants to play Ahsoka forever
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Rosario Dawson discussed her time as Ahsoka Tano. From a fan campaign on Twitter to dressing up as the character, Dawson explained the huge journey it has taken to play the Grey Jedi.
“It was not just because I’m the right age, not just because I had a the right look for it, but that I’m known for being incredibly committed,” Dawson told the outlet. “That offer, they knew, could resonate with someone like me. I’m in this industry for the long haul. I’m in for this type of storytelling that matters.”
Being a character in either Star Wars or Marvel comes with long commitment; with Ahsoka, Dawson has done both. When asked how long she would be interested in playing Ahsoka for, Dawson claimed she would play the character for the rest of her life.
“As long as they want me, and as long as it’s possible, I’m in it,” she said. “I feel like she’s unwavering and really represents the best of [us].”

Action scenes in your 40s
It’s unknown how long Rosario Dawson will continue to play the role of Ahsoka Tano for. However, the actress has already explained that some of the role’s physicality is more difficult to do at her current age.
“I am not a workout-y person,” the actress told the outlet. “I’m in my 40s getting into the most physically demanding role of my life.”
Nevertheless, the actress explained that she has to get stronger and fitter for the role. In order to be Ahsoka, she has to have her physicality and her mindset.
“[Ahsoka’s] not someone who gets tired. I can’t play this like a human,” she continued. “She is an indefatigable alien. She’s precise. She’s master level. The challenge is for me to show up and express that…. It’s like, I won’t necessarily work out for myself, but I’ll work out for Ahsoka any day of the week. I’m a huge fan, and I don’t want to watch and be like, ‘Yo, Ahsoka’s hand seems a little shaky there.’”
