NetherRealm Studios will let you play as an evil Superman; not the one from Injustice, but the one from Amazon’s hit TV series The Boys. In a surprising accidental announcement, Amazon confirmed that Homelander Mortal Kombat 1 DLC is in the works.

In a TikTok post revealing the addition of numerous The Boys characters in Call of Duty: Warzone, Amazon let slip that players will be able to experience the night of Homelander in NetherRealm’s upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 game.

In the comments of the promotional video, featuring Black Noir, one user asked if The Boys characters would appear in the new MK game. The account succinctly replied: “MK confirmed”.

Afterwards, the account released a follow-up comment, revealing that Homelander Mortal Kombat 1 DLC is on the way.

“Homelander will be available at some point. That’s all we can say,” the TikTok account told fans.

Homelander has been rumoured as a DLC fighter for the new Mortal Kombat fighting game since before its reveal. While there is still no official confirmation of the character from NetherRealm, it seems the unhinged superhero is on his way to the ultra-violent video game.

Mortal Kombat is no stranger to licensed characters as DLC. The series’ 2011 reboot featured Freddie Kruger as DLC; further entries included Alien, Predator, The Terminator, Rambo, Leatherface and more. Injustice 2 even featured the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as one character.

Despite not being released, Mortal Kombat 1 has already been hit with a wave of controversies. Starting with the still unrevealed Nintendo Switch port scaring fans, many fighting game players have complained about the game’s stiff and janky in-game animations.

Alongside the addition of Homelander, rumours also claim that DC’s Peacemaker — played by John Cena — will be coming to the game.

Nevertheless, Mortal Kombat 1 is still coming to PC and console later this year. The upcoming fighting game releases on September 19, 2023 for Xbox Series, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC.
