Elder Scrolls Oblivion, Fallout 3 remakes confirmed in leaked Xbox docs

Leaked Microsoft FTC documents have revealed plans for remakes of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Falllout 3. In one of the biggest games industry leaks of all time, a huge number of Microsoft’s have been laid bare.

Alongside news of a diskless Xbox Series console, an Xbox Series handheld and a new controller, a number of game releases have been leaked in previously prohibited Microsoft documents.

In the leaked Microsoft documents, it’s revealed that Bethesda Game Studios were working on remakes of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3 prior to its acquisition by Microsoft. Those projects are seemingly still in the works as Xbox Series console exclusive releases.

The Oblivion remaster was reportedly scheduled to release in FY2022, prior to the two year delay of the now-released Starfield. In addition, the Fallout 3 remake is scheduled to release in FY2024.

Furthermore, the leak revealed proposed dates for a new DOOM title, codenamed Doom: Year Zero as well as Dishonored 3. These games are scheduled to release in FY2023 and FY2024 respectively.

Additionally, Microsoft’s leaked documents provide a date for the mysterious Indiana Jones title developed by MachineGames. While it has since been delayed, the game was scheduled to release in FY2022.

News of an Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake has been circulating for a while, claiming the title would be remade in Unreal Engine instead of Bethesda’s typical Creation Engine. While the rumours of an Unreal-powered redo are unconfirmed, a return to Oblivion was on the cards at some point.

With The Elder Scrolls VI scheduled to release in 2026, it would be nice to see a return to the land of Cyrodil before then. Furthermore, with no new Fallout title on the horizon, a remake of Fallout 3 would be a great move for Microsoft to make, especially to bolster its Xbox Game Pass offerings.

New details from this FTC Microsoft leak are emerging at the time of writing, including details on the future of Xbox Cloud Gaming. For more information, check out our news category to stay up-to-date.
