Benedict Wong reveals hope for a Wong solo series in the future

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is becoming the Wong Cinematic Universe as the Sorcerer Supreme continues to appear in new projects. However, with the character appearing in so many stories, when will he get a show all to himself?

A Wong spin-off would be good for Benedict Wong

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Wong actor Benedict Wong discussed the idea of a spin-off. With the character as the Sorcerer Supreme, instead of Dr Strange, there’s a lot of room for adventures.

After all, Wong in the MCU has always been more knowledgable than Strange. While Strange is more typically heroic, countering huge threats, Wong is protecting order. On the other hand, we could get a series on him just watching The Sopranos.

Benedict Wong explained that he would be up for his own show. However, he isn’t going to push it to Marvel. Instead, the show has to be the studio’s idea.

“You know, a lot of people have said that,” the actor said. “Yeah, I could certainly think of some ideas. But hey, it’s not for me to push that. If you ever see anyone, send the question over there. I mean, look, I love playing this role, and I think there’s so much more scope that we could go into with a series, yeah.”

It better have Madisynn

While an action-packed spin-off with Wong would undoubtedly be a good time, we would love another idea: Wong and Madisynn. Introduced in She-Hulk, Madisynn is now Wong’s — or Wongers’ — new best friend.

We could absolutely imagine a magical buddy cop series with the two characters, solving inter-dimensional crimes and spoiling TV shows along the way. Actually, that’s pretty damn perfect! Get on it, Marvel!

Whatever happens, Marvel will either create a great show based on the character, or just an okay one. But they should really go with my idea, it’s a very good one, actually.
