She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has many fans excited to see the fan-favorite character debut in the MCU, complete with her typical fourth-wall-breaking antics. However, a lot of fans were disappointed that the show’s CGI isn’t up to snuff. As it turns out, one producer agrees with them, regretting the overuse of it in the show.
Producer SMASHes overuse of CGI
In a video interview with IGN, She-Hulk director Kat Coiro and creator/head writer/executive producer Jessica Gao talked about bringing this new Jade Giant to life. Jessica Gao went on to mention how making a show with a character that will mostly be CGI was “unprecedented.”
"This was unprecedented, you know, because [Marvel has] never made a TV show where the lead character is completely CG when she's the title character,” Gao said.
Adding to that, the She-Hulk producer also admitted that they “didn’t have a plan” when it came to how much CGI would be used on the show. In the end, they decided to focus on the script and story while Marvel handle all the special effects. Gao admits that there was plenty of trial and error that happened afterward when it came to CGI.
Since hindsight is always 20/20, Gao said “if we had to do it again, we'd probably think long and hard about how often we want a CG character on screen, but it all worked out."

More than CGI?
While fans are a bit weirded out by the use of CGI in She-Hulk, the show does have the potential to be entertaining. The return of Tim Roth’s Abomination has people excited, as do the cameos from Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Benedict Wong’s Wong. Some are also curious to see how Marvel’s first 30-minute legal comedy goes.
If the She-Hulk CGI were as good as some of the best Marvel movies, fans would probably be more excited to check out the show. Still, Marvel has produced some solid content for Disney+ thus far and there’s a good chance She-Hulk will be one of their better shows.
She-Hul: Attorney at Law will be premiering on August 17.
