Baldur’s Gate 3 is proving to be a once-in-a-generation RPG and fans want any collectibles associated with the title. Unfortunately, the game’s rather expensive Collector’s Edition is now even more expensive thanks to scalpers getting their hands on these items.
Originally priced at a hefty $270, a quick glance at eBay shows that these editions are now being sold for nearly $2k. That’s ten times its normal price, showing just how greedy these scalpers can be when it comes to these Collector’s Editions.
Admittedly, there is a lot of great content that comes with this special version of the game. The game’s website shows that it comes with detailed statues, stickers, a thich artbook, MTG cards, and other fun bonuses. Even the code for the game seems to be printed on nice-looking material.
It’s sad that Baldur’s Gate 3 became a victim of these schemes, though it's far from surprising. Video game collector’s editions are meant to be rare, so scalpers are bound to take advantage of hardcore fans like this.
Currently, scalpers are also hiking up the prices for the special edition Spider-Man 2 PlayStation 5. This variation of Sony’s current-gen console was already expensive and now they’re being resold for higher prices. It almost reminds us of how hard getting standard PlayStation 5 consoles were back in the pandemic.
Unfortunately, the Collector’s Edition of Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t the only hard-to-get collectible associated with the RPG. It was recently announced that the physical version of the PS5 game would be published by Spike Chunsoft. However, the physical copy is only available in Japan, which means fans will have to shell out for the game and shipping.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available on PC, with the PS5 version coming out on September 6. No word on when the Xbox Series version is coming out, as Larian struggles porting it to Series S.
