Within the next two or three years, I predict most virtual meetings will move from 2D camera image grids—which I call the Hollywood Squares model, although I know that probably dates me—to the metaverse, a 3D space with digital avatars.
According to Bill Gates, the adoption of Metaverse meetings is expected to be gradual. In part, this is because many people do not have the tools, such as VR headsets, to fully immerse themselves in the experience. However, he is optimistic about its potential to bring users more closer together.
