As we said earlier, you need to go north from the starting location and find the Ancient Vault of this NPC. The location is a little further than the first Flame Altar, so continue north until you climb a narrow path into a grassy clearing. Once you get to this place, you must defeat several scavenger enemies and another one inside the Ancient Vault. And once you overcome all these difficulties, you will be able to free Oswald Anders from the pod.

After completing these steps, you can return to your base and use the Summoning Staff to summon the Blacksmith NPC. And once you do this, you will have the Charcoal Kiln recipe unlocked. To create this primitive structure, you only need 20 Stones and Workbench. Fortunately, you can get Stones by collecting them near your base. As for the Charcoal Kiln, once the creation process is complete, you can place it anywhere in your base.
