At one point in your Baldur’s Gate 3 adventure, you’ll encounter a sly goblin leader named Fezzerk. Savage as ever, Fezzerk and his gang captured a Gnome named Barcus and tied him up in a windmill. It’s easy to declare Fezzerk evil, but this is a hasty generalisation. So, the question remains: is Fezzerk friend or foe?

Dealing with Fezzerk will probably make you realise that choices matter a lot in Baldur’s Gate 3. Most of your choices in the game can also affect your companions positively or negatively.

In this guide, we’ll answer the question: is Fezzerk friend or foe? Plus, we’ll also share some tips on how to rescue Barcus the Gnome.

Is Fezzerk a friend or foe?

Fezzerk is definitely a foe, and you must deal with him through either violence or persuasion. If you prefer violence, you have to be ready for a tricky encounter against a group of goblins. On the other hand, if you’re not up for a fight, you can try persuading Fezzerk and his gang to leave.

In order to convince Fezzerk to leave, you must make a Persuasion check. You can also use the tadpole to persuade the goblin leader.

Even if you didn’t fight Fezzerk, you’ll get the impression that he’s a weasel and cannot be trusted. In this case, he’s not a friend or a direct foe.

How to defeat Fezzerk and his goblins

If you’re itching for combat, you’ll have a challenging yet fun time against Fezzerk and the goblins. To defeat Fezzerk, you just need to focus all attacks and spells against him. As much as possible, ignore the other goblins and just reposition if needed.

Once Fezzerk is eviscerated into pieces, the other goblins will cower in fear. There’s no point in killing the rest of them.

After the combat encounter, go to the windmill and activate a brake lever. This lever will stop the windmill from turning, and you can now free Barcus. The Gnome will then point you to a reward chest that contains The Speedy Lightfeet boots, Smokepowder Satchel, gold, and some camp supplies.

That’s the wrap for our guide on dealing with Fezzerk the goblin leader. If you want to learn more cool stuff about Baldur’s Gate 3, check out our guides on character classes and removing dead party members.
