Oscar-nominated actor Andrew Garfield says he will be taking a break from acting after starring in projects like Under the Banner of Heaven. Garfield has been on a bit of a hot streak when it comes to his recent projects, but that seems to have taken a toll on the actor. Or Sony told him what their plans were for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and it drove him nuts.
Why is Andrew Garfield taking a break?
Speaking with Variety, Garfield revealed that he needs time to rest up in order to concentrate on what his next steps as an actor. The beloved Spider-Man angle also cited the annual Awards Season as a reason for his break, claiming that they tend to be stressful events.
“I need to recalibrate and reconsider what I want to do next and who I want to be and just be a bit of a person for awhile. Because as you know, that is a washing machine, that awards season. I need to just be a bit ordinary for a while.”

Garfield admits to PEOPLE that it is tempting to keep moving from one project to the next but admits that he’s a bit burned out. The actor credits Simon Biles and Kendrick Lamar for encouraging him to take a break. Here’s hoping that he mooches on some lasagna while hating on Mondays.

When will he come back?
Considering how the actor is mostly going on about his break, we assume that it’s going to take a while before he shows up in another movie or series. Very rarely do these actors reveal their vacation timetables, let alone what they do in their free time, so Garfield should just enjoy his career sabbatical.
Thankfully, there is plenty of Andrew Garfield media to absorb right now. Netflix’s Tick Tick…Boom! Is available for streaming, as is Spider-Man: No Way Home where he makes a brief appearance as the once-worst but now-best version of Peter Parker.
Over the past year, fans have clamoured for the actor to appear in more movies. Immediately after the release of No Way Home, fans campaigned for Sony to create The Amazing Spider-Man 3. However, it would appear that the actor will not be free to take on such a massive project.
