Spider-Man 3 and Jurassic World actress Bryce Dallas Howard has made strides as an esteemed director over the last decade. In recent years, the award-winning actress has been at the helm of some of the most beloved episodes of The Mandalorian. In fact, Howard was even in charge of the character’s return in The Book of Boba Fett episode: Return of the Mandalorian.
Is Bryce Dallas Howard directing a Star Wars movie?
With fans pining over Howard's expert direction of The Mandalorian, many have begged Disney to give her the reigns to a feature-length Star Wars movie. As Disney is moving towards more individual stories — such as Kevin Feige’s upcoming movie and Taika Watiti’s film — Howard could also have her own film.
Over the past year, many fans have expressed an interest in seeing the director direct prequel-era content. At first, this started as a snide joke with hateful fans claiming she only got the job due to get father’s work directing Solo. However, after seeing Howard’s Mandalorian work, fans believed the director would be the best choice for the job.
In an interview with io9, Bryce Dallas Howard was finally asked if she would want to direct a Star Wars movie. In a very brief and succinct statement, Howard vaguely answered in a way that suggested she wouldn't turn the offer down.
“Oh my goodness, “ she replied to the question. “I think it would take someone asking me.”

Star Wars’ Avengers moment?
In recent rumours, Bryce Dallas Howard has been attached to a mysterious Star Wars movie: Heir to the Empire. Said to be an adaptation of Timothy Zahn’s now-non-canon novel, the movie is believed to combine The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, The Book of Boba Fett and more.
There is some evidence to support the creation of this movie. For example, The Mandalorian’s main plot seems to revolve around The Empire creating clones, an integral aspect of Zahn’s novel. Additionally, the series’ heavy presence of Luke Skywalker could lead to a great adaptation of the novel.
If real, this movie could result in an “Avengers moment” for the Star Wars franchise. With everyone loving The Mandalorian and Grogu — aka Baby Yoda — it could certainly be a great way to get fans in cinemas.
