Kingpin could finally fight Peter Parker in Marvel's Spider-Man 4 movie

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has already introduced — or reintroduced — a collection of beloved Marvel characters. Kingpin appeared in Hawkeye, Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home; Blade spoke in Eternals.

Part of the joy of the MCU is figuring out which characters will get the chance to interact. For example, the Guardians of the Galaxy meeting up with Iron Man and Doctor Strange was a momentous crossover! But, as with any massive franchise, what's next?

Kingpin vs Spider-Man?

The MCU is vast; the cinematic monster takes place over multiple universes spanning thousands of years. However, the MCU is often at its best when it focuses on the smaller things. While Celestials and the timeline-pruning TVA may be enthralling in their epic scope, most people are more interested in the ground level threats.

In an interview on The Sarah O’Connell show, Daredevil and Hawkeye actor Vincent D'Onofrio expressed an interest in bringing one of the best ground-level comic book rivalries to the big screen: Kingpin vs Spider-Man. With D'Onofrio's version of the imposing crime boss now in the MCU, we could finally see the two characters clash.

D'Onofrio explained that it “would be really fun” to see Kingpin on the big screen battling Marvel's wall-crawler. The two characters have been entwined in comics, animated shows and even video games with Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

When asked who he would want to battle, the actor said:

“All of them! I mean, it’s obvious that Punisher, Daredevil, and Spider-Man are the ones my character is tied to in the comic books. But there’s plenty of room for others, I can just only hope that that happens. But I mean, Spider-Man definitely. I think that would be really, really fun!”

What will Spider-Man 4 be about?

Currently,  even the existence of Spider-Man 4 is up in the air. However, producer Amy Pascal previously confirmed that Marvel and Sony would be partnering on a new trilogy. Furthermore, this trilogy would still feature Tom Holland as Peter Parker.

There's been a lot of speculation as to what Spider-Man 4 could be. Currently, evidence points towards Sony's planned Spider-Man vs Venom movie or a Symbiote Suit Tom Holland film. Whatever the case, it'll likely be very exciting.

However, Spider-Man 4 is a long way away. With No Way Home just released, it may be a while until Marvel releases another Spidey flick. Remember: absence makes the heart grow fonder.
