Anthony Mackie hopes to be Captain America for the next two decades

When actors sign on to play a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they're going to be tied to the role for years to come. Robert Downey Jr was Iron Man for over a decade, Chris Evans was Captain America for 8 years. One actor is hoping that they will be in the MCU for decades to come. That actor is new Captain America, Anthony Mackie.

With the actor taking up the mantle of Captain America, Anthony Mackie will be the face of the MCU. Already staring in 6 MCU movies and a TV show, Mackie has been a very important actor for the direction of the Marvel movies. That importance isn't going away anytime soon.

Anthony Mackie wants to be Captain America for decades

Following the actor's appearance at the MTV Movie Awards, via The Direct, Anthony Mackie explained that he is hoping to in the MCU. While actors like Robert Downey Jr spent over a decade in the franchise, Mackie appears willing to break that record.

"I hope [I'm there for] the next two decades, that’s what I’m hoping for,” the actor said. “So if I could be 65 and still doing this, I’m crushing it."

Mackie's statement appears to have been said in a half-joke tone. However, if the actor was to be Captain America for the next two decades, that would have Marvel creating MCU content until 2041. Marvel already has plans for the MCU up until 2029. Could the House of Mouse keep their cards from tumbling for another 20 years?
