Africa opens up their first Metaverse platform, Africarare

The metaverse has grown so much that it’s no longer just a Mark Zuckerberg idea, with other countries making their own plans for the platform. Africa is one of those countries, as the country has announced that their version of the metaverse, Africarare, is open to the world.

We’ve seen countries announce their version of the metaverse before, usually done to give people more digital opportunities in the long run. It seems that Africarare is similar, giving people the opportunity to learn about the country while also letting foreigners learn about the country.

What you need to know about Africa’s metaverse

Africarare is Africa’s first attempt at the metaverse and was revealed in an event that took place in Johannesburg. Like other forms of the metaverse, Africarare will have users visiting a virtual world called Ubuntuland, which supposedly marries creativity, cryptocurrency, and commerce.

Unsurprisingly, Globe News Wire reports that NFTs are set to be a big part of Africarare. Metaverse users can also purchase virtual land in Africarare with cryptocurrency and companies like MTN have already committed to the platform.

Bernice Samuels, MTN Group Executive said “This is an exciting moment for us as we lead businesses on the continent to enter the metaverse marketplace.”

Everything in Africarare can be bought

Like most metaverse platforms, there are a lot of things that can be purchased in Africa’s Africarare. As previously mentioned, there are virtual lands that can be bought with a cryptocurrency called $UBUNTU tokens.

“Africarare is focused on building and uplifting Africa,” said Mic Mann, Co-founder, and CEO of Africarare. “Our metaverse will connect Africa to this booming arena of the global economy, stimulate growth and create multiple new jobs such as digital designers, creators, and architects,”

Fans will be able to purchase digital artworks through the Mika and Inuka galleries, with art pieces being sold as NFTs. It will be interesting to see how successful this version of the metaverse becomes since there are so many.
