My5 app on Xbox consoles: Can you watch Channel 5 shows on Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S?

While Microsoft garnered a lot of negative attention for focusing too much on the media aspects of the Xbox One when it first released, their prediction was correct. The games console is now a staple in homes across the world, not just for games but for watching the latest TV shows and films.

If you want to watch the likes of The Gadget Show, you will need to use Channel 5's catch-up app, My5.

But is My5 available on the Xbox Series X or Xbox One? Here's all you need to know.

Watch Channel 5 on Xbox via My5

Unfortunately, the My5 application does not support the Xbox 360, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X console. The My5 app is only available on one games console - the PlayStation 4.

Channel 5 was previously available on the Xbox consoles in its previous form - Demand 5. Support for the Xbox application ended in December 2018.

In explaining why this is, Channel 5 said these consoles are no longer supported to "maximise the support that we can offer" across other devices. Neither Channel 5 nor Xbox has made any comments about whether this will change in the future.

What British channels can I watch on Xbox?

While Channel 5 is unavailable on the Xbox line of consoles, it is the anomaly when it comes to British catch-up services.

BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, Channel 4's All 4, and other British services are available on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles - a feature that is currently unavailable for PlayStation 5 owners.

You can download these applications from the Microsoft Store for no additional cost, although you will need a TV License.
