Following on from its brilliant VelocityOne Flight, Turtle Beach’s new racing wheel looks to be an absolute treat. Dubbed VelocityOne Race, the new wheel aims to dominate the racing peripherals market just like it did for flight simulation.
While Turtle Beach has expanded rapidly into the flight stick market following the success of Microsoft Flight Simulator, the more crowded racing wheel market is a new adventure for the company.
Designed for PC and Xbox consoles, the VelocityOne Race is a high-fidelity direct-drive force feedback racing setup powered by the company’s all-new K: Drive motor. Able to recreate the feeling of an actual steering wheel while you drive, the device aims to keep you immersed in games such as Forza Motorsport, Asseto Corsa and more.
Alongside the direct drive wheel, you’re also treated to aluminum pedals powered by the new Dynamic Brake Tek system. This system allows the load-cell brakes to simulate realistic braking, even locking up when ABS kicks in as you swerve around the track.
Other details include hand-stitched leather around the steering wheel, analogue gear paddles and remappable buttons via VelocityOne Race’s Tuner companion app. Furthermore, in supported games, you can use the app to see real-time racing telemetry information to truly satisfy the car nerd in you.
The remappable controls also come in handy for the system’s side panel. Holding essential features like the engine start button, this unit has myriad buttons that can be mapped for whatever functions you need.
