Steam is home to a lot of porn games, as the company allows a ton of 18+ titles with scenes that are more than suggestive. It can be quite embarrassing to pick these games up, but it looks like Valve will soon let players purchase and play these without anyone knowing.
Pavel Djundik, the creator of SteamDB, has confirmed that Valve will soon let Steam players hide certain games from their online friends. Hilariously, Djundik uses Counter-Strike 2 as an example here, when most players will likely use the feature for Scarlet Maiden or NSFW Solitaire.
Unfortunately for perverts, this feature isn’t available yet, so think twice before picking up one of those Senran Kagura games. This feature is still being worked on, so players may want to think twice before picking up some of these fetish-filled titles.
Now, to be fair, porn games aren’t the only titles that gamers don’t want their friends to see them playing. Maybe it’s a years-old demo of a game you initially scoffed at or one of those low-tier GameMill Entertainment titles that activates the primal part of your brain for some reason. Of course, it’s mostly going to be a porn game or, at the very least, one of those titles that has a ton of fanservice.
We can imagine some casual players using this feature for something like Dead or Alive 5, which definitely has some revealing costumes. The fact that these games also have a ton of suggestive costumes as DLC shows how Koei Tecmo definitely knows their audience. Granted, this series does have a great fighting system, but try telling that to your girlfriend when she sees Kasumi’s classic outfit.

It will be interesting to see just how many Steam users start using this feature when it eventually gets released. Porn games are a dime-a-dozen in the Steam economy, though there are a few quality NSFW titles out there. On a personal note, we would use this to play a game we’re ashamed to enjoy, like Overwatch 2 or Diablo 4.
