Respawn Entertainment’s second Cal Kestis adventure Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a sales success on Xbox Series, PS5 and PC.

Despite lacking a last-gen port to Xbox One and PS4 entirely, the new Star Wars game is outselling its predecessor Fallen Order by a considerably margin.

Recent reports claim that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sales fell below that of Harry Potter RPG Hogwarts Legacy’s last-gen release, the second wind for the Wizarding World game. However, new data suggests that the new Jedi game is a runaway success.

GamesIndustry reporter Christopher Dring revealed that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sales are huge on digital platforms. Over the past couple of decades, sales data has tended to consist of mostly physical releases, but with around 50% of game sales now being virtual, sales reports are rapidly changing.

Dring reports that physical sales of the new Star Wars title are down, but Jedi Survivor beats the launch of Fallen Order by 30% when digital sales are accounted for. In just digital sales, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has sold double that of its predecessor.

Fallen Order was a huge release for EA, launching right in the Holiday season. Typically, game sales are much higher during these later months, but Survivor’s April release is performing higher than expected. Furthermore, the Xbox Series and PS5 install base is considerably smaller than that of the Xbox One and PS4.

Over the course of 2020, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was the second-best selling game of the year. By June 2021, EA had sold 20 million copies of the single-player Star Wars game, and the game’s bigger and bolder sequel may surpass it.

While Jedi: Survivor is a brilliant game, it has launched with a litany of issues, especially on PC. While patches are frequently releasing, the game still suffers from performance issues and bugs, although on console it doesn’t really hamper the fantastic experience.

If you’re a Star Wars fan, Jedi: Survivor is everything you’d ever want. The game is available on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC, although PC gamers should probably wait a month or two for more patches.
