Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is off to an excellent start but the game wasn’t able to topple Hogwarts Legacy in terms of sales. This has led to the sequel becoming the UK’s second-best-selling physical launch in a long time but it hasn’t matched the hype Potter fans had for their game.

According to gamesindustry.biz, this is the eighth biggest Star Wars boxed game in the last 30 years. Interestingly, sales are down from its predecessor, Fallen Order, though that’s a bit understandable since that was a fresh game and this is its sequel.

If digital sales were included, it’s theorized that the data for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor would have been even better. However, physical games are still a necessity to many collectors, especially since digital titles can be de-listed at any time.

While some of us expected better from the Fallen Order sequel, keep in mind that Star Wars fans have been pretty spoiled in the video game realm. Although EA’s Battlefront reboot was a mess at launch, it was still seen as a fun multiplayer game in the end. Fans have also had numerous good games from the old PC and console days, like Jedi Academy, Jedi Power Battles, and so much more.

Granted, there are plenty of Harry Potter video games to enjoy, but none of them offered the experience that Hogwarts Legacy advertised. Star Wars fans had numerous original tales to revel and enjoy via video game form. This is the first time in a long time fans can explore this universe as someone not named Harry Potter.

Hogwarts Legacy might continue its dominance over Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, as the PS4 and Xbox One versions will be coming out later this month. A Nintendo Switch port of the game is also planned for release sometime this year, though many of us are wondering if it will actually come out.
