Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man 2 is one of the most anticipated games of 2023. Following on from 2020’s spin-off game Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the new game will see Miles and Peter Parker team up to take down a beloved big bad: Venom.

However, there’s still no news on when fans can expect to play the new superhero game on PlayStation 5. A PS5 exclusive, many are expected a reveal of the new game’s release date sometime soon. So, where is it?

In an interview with CBM, Spider-Man voice actor Yuri Lowenthal discussed the game’s secretive release date. While the voice actor didn’t give away the game’s planned release date, he did confirm that Insomniac Games is confident that they’ll hit their internal target.

Lowenthal confirmed that Spider-Man 2 will be a much bigger game than 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man. The voice actor explained that the upcoming video game is “massive”, teasing that the sequel will be much larger than its surprisingly small-scale predecessor.

“I've still got a little bit to do,” Lowenthal said. “It's a massive game so I'm still doing a little bit of work. Iknow they're confident about their release date and Insomniac has always been good about that. Obviously, I can't really talk about the game much, but I will tell you that it's astonishing!”

Lowenthal concluded by teasing that the new superhero game will match expectations set by the last two games.

“I'm so excited for you to play it. They know they've got big shoes to fill from the last two games and they've done it,” he said. “I just can't wait for people to play it."

Insomniac Games has teased that Spider-Man 2 will release late 2023. Typically, Sony has been rather solid on its release dates this generation, rarely shifting releases despite the hit from a worldwide pandemic. With this in mind, the new webhead game will likely release later this year.

Furthermore, Insomiac is also hard at work on another game in its Marvel universe: Wolverine. Seemingly set in the same New York as the new Spidey title, this game will be the first solo Wolverine game since 2009’s brutal X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Will the two superheroes ever meet?
