Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is adding even more villains to the game for both Peter and Miles to fight. While boss fights in the first game could be hard to parse, the sequel changes that by giving bosses health bars, making them actual boss fights.

The official PlayStation account on Twitter shared a brief clip of Symbiote Spider-Man fighting The Lizard. As fans can see, there’s an actual health bar this time, making it feel like each hit is doing actual damage to these villains.

Fans will remember how the first Spider-Man game didn’t have health bars for their boss fights, making them feel like interactive cutscenes. Although they weren’t terrible, most fans will agree that they could have been a lot better. Players were just dodging and hitting the boss until the next scene played, which wasn’t very fulfilling.

While some bosses did show signs of wear and tear during a fight, the busy environments meant that damage was hard to notice in the midst of battle. While less immersive, a simple health bar will be a lot better for some players.

Improved boss fights are something fans really want to see in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, especially since this title is a bit more villain-centric. The Lizard was already mentioned but Venom, Kraven the Hunter, The Wraith, and Mr. Negative are also in the sequel as well. From what we’ve seen thus far, we’re sure these boss fights will be cinematic and bombastic in the best possible way.

With Peter and Miles having their own set of stories in the game, we hope that this means they get some of their own boss fights as well. Obviously, Venom is going to take a team effort from both Spider-Men but unique solo battles with each hero’s unique combat styles will be very entertaining.

Aside from improving the boss battles, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will also be making improvements to the alternate costumes. It was recently confirmed that there would be over 65 costumes overall and they can be customised with various colors. This means some of those ugly Deluxe edition suits can look a lot better.
