pokemon scarlet and violet dlc leak confirms hundreds of returns

A Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC leak has revealed that hundreds of familiar faces will be making their return later this year. Following in the footsteps of Pokémon Sword and Shield’s DLC, Game Freak will be reintroducing a large number of favourites to Paldea.

On Twitter, a user named Matt shared a list of over 200 Pokémon that will be coming to these games via the DLC. Naturally, this was done by datamining the recent 1.2.0 update that recently came out, showing there was more to it than some minimal performance upgrades.

Favorites like Bulbasaur, Totodile, Torchic, and so much more will be making their grand return to the game when the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC releases. Players should also be able to transfer their critters to these games once Pokémon Home functionality is added. Either way, trainers will be able to explore Paldea with their Bulbasaurs soon.

Game Freak pulled a similar move a few years ago when they dropped the National Pokédex for Pokémon Sword and Shield, locking numerous monsters behind updates and paid DLC. For a while, the lack of a National Pokédex caused plenty of controversies, with numerous posts claiming they would boycott the games. In the end, it didn’t even matter, as Sword and Shield sold millions upon release.

Hopefully, the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC expansions add even more enjoyment to these flawed titles. Despite poor performance and mid-tier visuals, Scarlet and Violet are really fun games, showing that the open-world concept fits the franchise really well. Considering how the DLC was the best part of Sword and Shield, we’re pretty excited for more Scarlet and Violet content.

While fans are looking forward to the new locales and Pokémon, Switch fans are hoping for Nintendo’s next system by the time the DLC comes out. A major leaker claimed that we would be getting the new Switch and a graphics update for Scarlet and Violet later this year. The leaker also correctly predicted all of the Scarlet and Violet announcements during the Pokémon Present video, so there’s some credence here.
