It looks like Game Freak are restoring some of the corrupted Pokémon Scarlet and Violet saves. Fans first reported that their saves were corrupted after updating the game and trying to buy the DLC in advance. We don’t know if the developers will be doing this for everyone but it’s good news if they are.

Joe Marrick, the webmaster of Pokémon-dedicated website Serebii, tweeted out that some fans are getting contacted about getting their saves restored. Considering how Serebii always breaks news about the billion dollar franchise, Marrick’s claims are more than credible.

While there are those getting their Pokémon Scarlet and Violet saves back, it’s not yet known if this will be a fix for everyone. Not every fan has received a call from Game Freak and there hasn’t been an official announcement regarding these saves.

The Pokémon Company did say that an upcoming Scarlet and Violet update would fix some bugs, particularly the “bad egg” issue. However, they have yet to comment on actually fixing these corrupted saves. All we can do is hope that they are dead set on bringing these saves back.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have been criticized for their numerous technical issues, so this save corruption bug doesn’t help things. The fact that numerous players have also lost their shinies and raid captures makes this more heartbreaking. All of this would be avoidable if Game Freak allowed these games on Nintendo’s save clouds but they won’t do that for some reason.

Even with all of those criticisms, both games are already the quickest selling titles in the Nintendo Switch’s history. It also helps that both games are genuinely fun, with a decent story and an addictive gameplay loop. That doesn’t excuse either games for their faults and, if anything, these continued issues taint their legacy even more.
