Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is reportedly corrupting the save files of players updating to the latest 1.2.0 patch. The glitch has affected many and could affect more if Nintendo or Game Freak don’t release an update soon.
Fans on Reddit have lost their save files in the oddest way. Apparently, trying to connect Scarlet and Violet to Pokémon GO has led to the complete deletion of save files. In addition to that, downloading the DLC early has led to the loss of save files.
Some Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players are lucky, as they haven’t encountered the issue after doing both actions. However, there are plenty of players who have lost all of their progress, including the Shiny Pokémon they likely spent hours getting. This could also mean losing the special Charizard, Cinderace, Walking Wake, and Iron Leaves from recent Tera Raid events.
Unfortunately, fans still can’t transfer their Scarlet and Violet critters to Pokémon Home. That means there are literally no safety measures to keep your Pokémon safe from data deletion. While Pokémon Home integration with Scarlet and Violet was promised this year, no definitive date has been given.
As of this writing, no official statement from Nintendo or Game Freak has been made regarding this Pokémon Scarlet and Violet glitch. Expect a major announcement to happen once enough voices reach the mainstream. Hopefully, the devs are working on a hotfix to get this done quickly.
Despite being fun games, both Scarlet and Violet have been plagued with a number of issues that have driven hardcore players mad. Performance-wise, both games can barely reach 30 FPS and the visuals of these titles look really muddy. It’s a shame, because going around the open-world and catching Pokémon is the most fun it’s been in a while.

Fans can get Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on the Switch right now. While updating both games to 1.2.0 is safe enough, don’t bother connecting to Pokémon GO or downloading the DLC until a hotfix is released.
