A new gaming monitor has been announced by Philips, and will be available to purchase by the end of November 2023. The Philips Evnia 32M2C5500W aims to provide "speed, immersion, and comfort to gaming fans of all profiles."

The last few months of 2023 have provided plenty of choice for gamers looking for a new monitor. Fellow peripherals brand AOC revealed two high-end monitors last week, and another for good measure more recently. Philips' offering comes with a fairly high price point of £429.99.

The monitor, which has a 1000R curved display, is targeting gamers that are looking for speed, graphic performance, and physical comfort. To that end, it comes with a high speed VA panel for crisp images. This is joined by a quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1400, and when combined with the monitor's curve, it's sure to bring a wide viewing angle. VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification is also used to guarantee plenty of detail.

The monitor's refresh rate is quite impressive, coming in at 240 hertz to ensure speed and precision in first person shooters and other games. MPRT response time is reportedly down to 0.5 milliseconds, so juddering and screen-lag should be very rare.

When it comes to ports, the 32M2C5500W is fairly standard. Two HDMI slots are joined by two DisplayPort slots and three USB slots. An 'audio out' slot is also present to let users plug in headphones or speakers.

At the price it's asking for, it's good to see that there's more to the monitor than its specs. Height, swivel, and tilt can be adjusted with a compact ergo base, 'EasySelect' makes it easier to flick through on-screen menus, and eyesight is protected by flicker-reducing technology and a 'LowBlue' mode.
