Get ahead of the curve in gaming: How a curved display will change your game forever

Our eyes are shaped like a sphere, with a curved cornea facing forward and acting as a lens. This rounded shape also helps reduce aberration – imperfections of the eye resulting in distorted images. So why then are the screens we face every day mostly flat and not curved? Wouldn’t that make much more sense? Indeed, it would, especially for content such as games, where a full immersion changes the way you experience a game drastically.

Inspired by nature’s aeons of evolution, curved displays mirror the shape of our eyes. Whenever you see a curved display, you’ll see it has been noted with R – the radius of the virtual circle in millimetres, if you were to extend the display 360° around you. A display with 1500R will have a 1.5 m radius, a 1000R display 1 m radius. So, the smaller the R number, the tighter the curve becomes.
