Microsoft’s Xbox Business Update has come and gone, but it looks like Microsoft’s commitment to its consoles hasn’t been deterred. The company claims that the next Xbox is going to be “the largest technological leap you have ever seen.”
During the Xbox Business episode of the Xbox Podcast (via VGC), company president Sarah Bond promised that the Xbox Series consoles wouldn’t be the last. According to Bond, the company is already working on the next roadmap for its new console, promising a major leap from current console technology.
“There’s some exciting stuff coming out in hardware that we’re going to share this holiday and we’re also invested in the next-generation roadmap,” Bond explained. “And what we’re really focused on there is delivering the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation, which makes it better for players, and better for creators and the visions that they’re building.”
Considering how the current generation mostly improved performance and greatly reduced loading times, it will be interesting to see what’s coming next. Based on the current consoles we have now, it’s hard to imagine what the next generation of games is going to look like and how much better it can be.
Fans were initially worried that Microsoft would stop selling Xbox consoles altogether, but that’s not the case, based on this podcast. While the company is bringing four unnamed games to PlayStation 5 and Switch, one of which could be Hi-Fi Rush, they aren’t giving up yet. The company even said that of the four games, none of them will be Starfield or Indiana Jones.
Rumours have been floating around about this console generation being a short one, with Sony even saying that the PS5 is in its latter stages. More games will be released and we doubt these systems will be dying next year, but if this generation is a short one, it had a lot of great games.
