A "new" update for CitraVR is finally here, bringing plenty of must-have features to the 3DS emulator for Meta Quest 2, 3, and Pro headsets. But the best part is that this will enable you to play some of the best 3DS games thanks to a nifty performance toggle.

While the Meta storefront is home to plenty of games that make the best VR headset worth purchasing, a variety of upcoming VR games and SideQuest apps make it even more of greater investment. That includes the CitraVR emulator for Quest, which has been made even better with a recent update.

As spotted by UploadVR, the latest version of CitraVR, dubbed 0.4.0, brings a bunch of noteworthy improvements. Features like a new UI, dark theme, faster game library loading, in-system keyboard, and other tweaks. However, the major upgrade with this version is the inclusion of a "New Nintendo 3DS" toggle, upgrading the performance of 3DS games and improving titles that were exclusive to the newer hardware.

The New Nintendo 3DS line of the best gaming handhelds at the time wasn't a simple refresh and rebrand for marketing purposes. The refresh included an improved processor, more RAM, and a bunch of new buttons to make the console even better. Games like The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, and Fire Emblem Warriors were all exclusive to the new model, leaving old 3DS players behind.

If you're unsure of how to download the emulator to your Quest headset, you can check out the video from SideQuestVR's YouTube channel below:

Unfortunately, the exclusive New Nintendo 3DS titles list is fairly limited, however, the ones that did arrive are extremely impressive, and the latest CitraVR update will give you the chance to play them in all of their glory. So, if you're tired of looking for the best games like Blade and Sorcery like myself, it may be time to play some Nintendo 3DS in virtual reality.
