Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is really taking the “bigger is better” approach, as the sequel doubles down on what fans loved about the first game. In addition to a bigger world and more traversal options, the sequel will have 65 costumes with options to customize their colors.
An article from The PlayStation Blog confirmed that there will be 65 costumes in total, with a good mix of comic, movie, and original suits. Fans already spotted some great outfits in the State of Play trailer, including the black Tobey Maguire suit from Spider-Man 3 and the Superior Spider-Man from the comics.
Suit Styles are a new feature in the sequel, which will let players customise the colors of these outfits. One great example is seeing the aforementioned Superior Spider-Man costume turn into the Superior Octopus variant he wore during Secret Empire.
Fans can expect a good mix of new and returning outfits in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Previews have shown that Miles Morales will have his makeshift beginner suit from his spin-off game and the custom Prowler outfit he gets in a side quest. Peter Parker will presumably have his suit from the Sam Raimi films, based on the black suit variant mentioned earlier.
There are also some costumes exclusive to the Digital Deluxe Edition of the sequel and they don’t look great. Admittedly, it’s nice to see five original outfits made for both Peter and Miles but some of them are overdesigned. Of course, that’s just our take and we’re sure some gamers will enjoy the sheer variety of outfits.
Some funky outfits aside, it’s clear that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is going to be a huge sequel and fans are all in for it. With customisable costumes, juicy drama, and combat that looks better than ever, it’s hard to be disappointed with everything announced thus far.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 comes to PlayStation 5 next month, on October 20.
