We're still in the dark about the finer details of the new Indiana Jones game that's in the works by MachineGames under the Bethesda umbrella. The start of new details for the upcoming licensed game, acclaimed The Darkness and Chronicles of Riddick director Jens Andersson has joined the game’s development team.

Also known for the beloved indie game Yoku’s Island Express, Andersson‘s credited for a large number of critical darlings. This only spells good news for the mysterious licensed game.

This move was announced by Andersson on Twitter and sees him join a plethora of other Swedish Starbreeze veterans in making the whip-cracking archaeologist come to life in video game form.

"I've now taken the next big step, which is to join MachineGames as Design Director on Indiana Jones," Andersson says in the tweet.

The developer goes on to explain that this is actually his second Indiana Jones game. Andersson reveals his 2009 stint in San Francisco, joining LucasArts working on a canned Indiana Jones title. "That game got cancelled before I even got there," he remembers.

"Now, I get a chance to do what I originally hoped to, but this time I get to do it with some of my oldest and best friends," Andersson continues. He is referring to the fact that the MachineGames team working on the new Indiana Jones game is comprised of many Starbreeze veterans who worked with Andersson on games like The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay game.

"I'm so excited about what we are building, and the way [we] get to do - featuring one of the most iconic characters ever, in collaboration with my friends at Lucasfilm, published by one [of] the biggest publishers in the world, and doing it an amazing studio like MachineGames," Andersson says.

Andersson is clearly getting the squad back together again in a MachineGames avengers assemble move that has Stealth Optional excited for what's to come when their Indiana Jones game finally sees the light of day.

According to Andersson, "this will be something very special."
